Inspiration
Shining a spotlight on the amazing story of Georgia Thompson Brown- Georgia "Tiny" Broadwick, the first woman to parachute from an airplane and the first person to manually deploy a parachute after a malfunction.
Tiny Broadwick, a name synonymous with courage and sky-high determination. In an era when the skies were uncharted territory, Tiny fearlessly soared into history as a pioneering parachutist. Her spirit, boundless as the heavens themselves, challenged conventions and inspired generations to take flight, both in the air and in their dreams. With each daring leap, Tiny Broadwick painted a vivid canvas of resilience, bravery, and a relentless pursuit of boundless horizons. Her legacy remains an enduring testament to the indomitable human spirit, forever celebrated in the annals of aviation history.

Technique
Orbital Echoes (Tiny's Flight Through The Skies) was created by constructing a hand-cut collage using female photographic portraiture wearing handmade silk robes and tulle bloomers, hand drawn illustrations of a parachute, globes, lunar cycles.
After coating the handmade paper with light-sensitive chemistry, it is left to dry in a dark room. The large-scale negative is contact printed onto the paper by exposure to daylight (UV rays). The print is then processed by thoroughly washing in water to remove any unexposed solution. It can then be hung to dry, developing to full density Prussian blue after 24 hours.
Once dried, the pieces are cut out and mounted onto the base print to create a multi-layered, 3-dimensional collaged cyanotype and hand finished with 24-carat gold leaf.
