"This piece, called Chin Up R Kid, is of a painting that I created in 2020 during lockdown and depicts Manchester's Northern Quarter. The Chin Up R Kid poster visible on the hoarding was created by the design duo DND Walls, and Please Believe These Days Will Pass was created by the Turner Prize-nominated artist Mark Titchner. I love how those days brought out so much positive sentiment and support for one another, at a time when mental health was in the spotlight. There's a real sense of community in these messages. Fly posters are designed to be temporary - pasted up and torn down - so for me, creating paintings like this is an important way of documenting those fleeting moments in time."
