Sam Joesbury

Sam Joesbury

A York resident and Fine Art graduate of Lancaster University, Sam's work examines Legacy, Atmosphere and Identity through live action drawing of sports, as well as live music events. Sam is bringing the spirit of the Impressionists to the live music scene, working "en plein air" but with the stage as his landscape.

Biography

His live music series aspires to capture bands and artists in real time at their gigs, responding to the movement, light, sound and energy of performance through rapid sketches while he's in the crowd.

The result is more than a record of a gig - it captures what it felt like to be there.

This collection features work live-drawn at Leeds Festival including a sketch worked up into a painting, bringing the immediacy of live performance directly into the gallery.
