Dan Cinnamon is a mixed media artist from the North East of England. After studying at Leeds University Dan went off on his travels around the world, where he developed a love of teaching and sharing his experiences with others. His interest in historical icons guided him to experiment with portrait painting, during this time Dan found that the constant presence of government, politics and control in the portraits of the passed led him to try to reinterpret the genre anti-establishment which grew in to his work. The work we see today starts with portraiture of 18th century historical figures; which are then defaced and manipulated into a contemporary mash up of sub cultures and motifs, which personify and significant to Dan.
Dan has been involved in group shows all around the UK, has recently had two major solo shows with rise gallery in London as well as being represented at many art fairs. Dan's public space murals feature in both London and New York and hopefully soon in 'Old' York.
Now represented and showing at The Art ofProtest Gallery Dan has big plans for 2017/18.
